This is a photo of Nam's feet. He was chasing the chickens away from our work sight in the Nagarani Village. He sat down to take a breather and I snapped this photo just before he ran off to play soccer with his little friend Rabecca. The Fijian "no shoe policy" is not dismissed with age. Grown men hauling more than half a dozen cinderblocks at a time are only as strong as the caluses on their feet.
